I made a really tasty Apple pie the other weekend that I thought I should share.

Paleo Appel Pie


  • 3,5 dl almond flour
  • 0,6 dl butter or clarified butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Hazelnut extract (optional)
  • 3 apples (Pink lady or Granny smith), peeled and thinly sliced
  • 0,5 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp almond flour
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 0,5 tsp nutmeg
  • honey to taste

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.

In a large bowl, mix almond flour, butter and salt. I also added a tiny bit of sugar free hazelnut extract. I changed the recipe from cups to dl so it’s not exact –you might want to add more butter/flour until it takes on a doughy texture.

Push the dough out in a pie dish. Put the pie shell in the oven until lightly golden (about 10 min).

Fry the apples in a pan with some butter for a few minutes on high heat. Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg on top at the end. Take the apples off the heat and stir in some almond flour and honey to taste (I only took about 0,5 tbsp).

Put the apple filling into the pie shell and cook for approximately 20-30 minutes. Serve with whipped coconut cream.
